Homeschool meets playtime

The last few months have been a sweet season for homeschooling.  Although we haven't had access to most of what we're used to (including a vehicle), life is much simpler then the average American family experiences in the U.S.

My favorite wall in the house!

I have loved how what we are studying has come out in the children's playtime.  We have been studying Ancient History so there have been lots of afternoons of playing nomads, Egyptian royalty, or being archeologists on an exciting dig.

The kids tried their hands at making lego pyramids...

Toby wanted a picture with Ally's pyramid

As I look back over some of these pictures, I realize that this just wouldn't have happened in our backyard in the States.  Life here is just...well...simpler.

Nomadic Cave Drawings

Here the kids made a nomadic house.  There was a clothesline and even a cage for their chicken made out of a box.

Chloe discovered a "treasure" on an archeological dig.  Every time someone would find something, the kids discussed what it told them about the people who used to live there.  :)

Camping along the Nile River

Just yesterday the palm branches got trimmed and a new nomadic house was born.  The kids played in this all afternoon and they were so excited that it was big enough for all of them to live.  :)

With all the fun comes this!

Looking forward to many more sweet seasons of homeschooling in our new home.
