Our next stop on Day 3 was Badlands National Park. Right as we passed through the entrance, we saw a sign for a Prairie Dog farm. We of course had to check it out. As I was pulling into a little parking lot right next to a farm house, I was looking off in the distance for where the prairie dog farm was. All of a sudden, I heard a big THUMP! and saw a prairie dog right in front of the van. Apparently I was driving IN the prairie dog farm!!! The prairie dogs had extended their farm into the parking lot. Thankfully I had just run over one of their holes and we had no actual casualties!
There was a little trash can full of bags of peanuts and a box marked $.50. We spent an hour feeding prairie dogs. The kids were in heaven!!!
These guys were QUITE friendly! They would actually climb up our legs begging for more! It was such a random little place right next to someone's home...
No home with adjoining prairie dog farm is complete without a giant prairie dog in the front yard!
I LOVED the looks on her face when a prairie dog would pop his head up!
It was hard for them to leave. Live prairie dogs have now been added to the Christmas lists!
