After Sequoia National Park, we made our way to Don's Uncle Mark and Aunt Debra's house. They live on about 1.5 acres along the foothills near LA. Their land is a little bit of paradise in the middle of a big city. They have an amazing guest house that we are staying in with a bedroom, living room and full kitchen. My favorite part is all the fruit trees on their property. They have tangerines (we pick this tree clean of ripe ones every day!), grapefruit, lemons, avocados, and the kids' favorite -- pomegranite! The kids have been running around with their cousins (and 2nd cousins) in the 70-80 degree weather now for 5 days and loving it! They have 2 swings that hang from the 100 year old avocado tree that have been a huge hit and the kids have loved getting to know their 2 akitas, Seven and Xena, and the huge tortoise (when I say huge, I mean about the size of Toby!) named Francis that comes out to roam the yard as soon as it gets warm enough. We have lots of pics of Francis to share as he has been quite entertaining.
Thanksgiving was really great. Aunt Debra pulled off an amazing feast for 58 people!!! It was quite the undertaking but it went VERY well and it was awesome to see so many family members gathered together in one place. Don's grandma was the matriarch of the bunch at 92 years old!
The last couple days have been about spending time with family, an evening adventure to the beach, and catching up on laundry. Today I did some packing to leave on Tuesday and tomorrow we spend the day at DISNEYLAND! Libby, Kady, and Ally are very excited... Tobin and Chloe have NO idea what they are in for!!! Should be a great day with no crowds... Maybe my next post will be from the top of Magic Moutain!
