The weather was overcast today and we even got some sprinkling. The clouds provided a welcomed blanket against the normally intense heat. So when the kids came inside to ask for a bucket and their water gun, I said "Sure!"
Seriously...who needs swimming pool when you have a bucket?!?
Funny story... (at least its funny now!) The window you see just above the kids in these pictures is the kitchen window where Ernestina and I were in the middle of tackling baking hamburger buns for Wednesday night's sloppy joe dinner...cookbooks open on the counter...baking ingredients out...windows wide open to catch any breeze. (windows are open 24/7 here unless there is an AC in the room) Can you picture it? When out of the blue, I here "Mom, LOOK!" I turned around to be met with the full force of a super soaker gun through the window right between the eyes. If you have a gun similar to the one you see Ally holding below, you know that this was no small amount of water. Mommy soaked...cookbooks wet...baking ingredients doused... It was too funny not to laugh but SERIOUSLY?!? The daughter who decided to use Mommy as target practice (who shall remain nameless as my kids get embarrassed when I use their first names in stories...obviously if I don't use their names, others have the chance to assume it was one of their siblings!) promptly realized the error in her logic. Unbeknownst to me, she bolted into the house to shower and clean up the entire main room as a peace offering... I assured her everything would dry, even Mommy!
Even in Ghana...Kids will be KIDS! Love them!
